Buckinghamshire's beekeepers have been organised since 1883. The county association is made up of four local associations - North Bucks (Milton Keynes west to Buckingham), Mid Bucks, High Wycombe and the Chalfonts - one of which hosts the Bucks County Honey Show each year. At the Bucks County Show the associations run a stand where honey from across the county is tasted and sold.
The honey reflects very different country. Near Steeple Claydon, British Honey Producers, a commercial bee farm, takes a spring honey from oilseed rape and cherry, apple and plum orchards and a clear summer honey from hedgerows, woodland and wildflowers. In the Chilterns, Honest Honey labels every jar with the place it came from - Amersham, Beaconsfield, Chenies or Latimer - and Denham Village Honey's bees work gardens and orchards around Denham and Iver Heath.
Much of the county's honey is sold at village fetes, as the Chalfonts Beekeepers' Society does with its members' honey, or collected by arrangement. Uncle Bee near Aylesbury and Thames & Chiltern Honey Bees at Stokenchurch also run beekeeping experience days.
