Some of West Yorkshire's honey comes from historic estates. Ledston Honey Bees keeps its hives on the Ledston Estate near Castleford – around 1,235 hectares of farmland, woodland, parkland, historic gardens and wetland around Grade I listed Ledston Hall – and its honey is sold at the wine shop in Ledston village. Outback Beez, based in Liversedge, has hives at Oakwell Hall in Birstall and other sites around Kirklees and Wakefield, and sells spring, summer and autumn honeys through shops, butchers and cafés across the area.
Other producers sell straight from home. DunnyBees in Mirfield sells single-hive raw honey from hives among farmland and conservation areas, for collection by arrangement, and Arthington Honey, near Otley, takes orders through its Facebook page for collection from Arthington. Outback Beez also collects honeybee swarms free of charge.
