Nairnshire beekeepers can harvest both a summer blossom honey and a late heather crop. Ann Chilcott, who writes The Beelistener blog from rural Nairnshire, describes bees here with woodland, field crops, village gardens, moorland and riverside all within reach, in a mild micro-climate close to the Moray Firth. Rose Cottage Country Kitchen at Moss-side, near Nairn, lists dandelion, gorse, apple blossom and oilseed rape behind its Nairnshire blossom honey. In the 2025 Great Taste Awards its summer Nairnshire honey won two stars and its heather honey one.
The local honey show is part of the Nairn Show, run by the Nairnshire Farming Society. Entries must come from the exhibitor's own bees, and the trophies must stay in Nairnshire. Nairn & District Beekeepers' Association meets at Cawdor and keeps a list of swarm collectors.
Most honey here comes from small producers and hobby beekeepers. Rose Cottage sells its honey alongside its preserves and has also stocked Swanson's Nairnshire heather honey. Remore Produce is a hobby beekeeper with apiaries around Ardclach and Davamoor, producing heather, blossom and soft-set honey.
