Local Honey FoulridgeHerd & Hive LtdThrostle nest farm, Moss houses road, Foulridge, BB8 7QJHerd & Hive is a vibrant, family-run farm business rooted in the rolling countryside of Yorkshire and Lancashire. Founded by Libby and Ollie, the company grew from a shared passion for sustainable farming, handcrafted products, and a deep respect for the natural world. What began as a humble farm endeavour has blossomed into a multi-award winning enterprise, blending traditional rural life with artisanal craftsmanship and education.

At the heart of Herd & Hive’s offerings is a dedication to authentic, natural products that reflect the landscapes and seasons of northern England. Their raw honey captures the unique flavour profiles of local wildflowers and meadows, delivering a true taste of Yorkshire’s flora. This honey, along with other honey-based products such as honeycomb and infused honeys, reflects the company’s commitment to quality and minimal processing.

The farm’s apicultural work goes beyond simply producing honey. Herd & Hive offers immersive beekeeping experiences that allow visitors to step into the world of bees, interact with hives, learn beekeeping techniques, and gain first-hand insight into the life of a beekeeper. These sessions, which are held throughout the beekeeping season, are designed to educate and inspire people of all ages, connecting them more closely with nature and the importance of pollinators.

For those interested in stepping into beekeeping themselves, Herd & Hive provides beekeeping training and mentoring, offering personalised guidance and support as newcomers learn how to care for their own hives. Additionally, the business rears and sells bee colonies — including overwintered nucleus colonies with proven queens — helping to nurture healthy, locally adapted bee stocks.

In addition to honey and beekeeping, Herd & Hive produces a range of farm-crafted products that highlight their commitment to natural, ethical production. This includes goat’s milk soaps, beeswax balms, propolis creams, and other bee-derived skincare items that are popular for their nourishment and gentle properties.
