Black Dog Honey Bees, a family business in the city, sells a Dartmoor honey from bees foraging wildflowers, hedgerow blossom and native trees on the moor – light to medium amber and gently floral – alongside seasonal blossom, summer and soft-set honeys. It is sold in independent shops, bakeries and cafés around Plymouth and at the monthly market on The Broadway in Plymstock. BeeHoneyUK, in Plympton, sells raw honey in 1lb jars to order, and Birdy's Devon Honey, which produces honey from around Devon, is a regular stallholder at Kingsbridge Farmers' Market in the South Hams.
Plymouth Beekeepers, the city's branch of the Devon Beekeepers' Association, runs a teaching apiary at Ivybridge, collects swarms and can put you in touch with members selling honey near you.
