Three quite different producers are listed around Truro. Tregothnan, the historic estate near St Michael Penkivel, sells single-origin estate honeys. They include a raw Cornish floral honey from bees working heather, geraniums, sweet peas and other garden plants, and a Manuka honey from the estate's walled gardens. Holywell Apiaries at Playing Place is a small producer with apiaries on farms across the county, many of them involved in wildflower planting and rewilding. It keeps local dark Cornish bees alongside Buckfast and sells online and through stockists including Seven Acre Farm, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the fruit and veg stall at Perranarworthal. The Cornish Black Bee Company, based west of the city, breeds native Cornish black bees and keeps apiaries across West Cornwall. It doesn't move them between crops, so each site gives its own honey, and it has won gold medals at the Royal Cornwall Show.
Truro Farmers' Market is also worth trying. Treway Farm, a grass-fed beef farm near St Austell, sells its clover-rich raw honey there.
