Hertfordshire honey comes from a mix of farmland, hedgerows and gardens, and some producers here bottle those sources separately. Woodstock English Honey, at Ringshall near Berkhamsted, keeps bees across the Herts, Beds and Bucks borders, and its honey changes from light and floral in spring to richer by midsummer.
Most honey here is sold through local shops or collected from the beekeeper. C & B Honey's hives are in and around St Albans, and its honey is sold at Carpenter's Nursery & Farm Shop about one food mile from where it's produced. St Albans Honey offers free local pick-up. Keep It Rural in Watford packs honey from apiaries across the Home Counties, including Hertfordshire bees kept in a plant nursery.
The Hertfordshire Beekeepers Association brings together seven local associations, from Bishops Stortford to West Herts. It holds a spring show with a honey-tasting competition and an autumn honey show, and it's the place to start for swarm help.
