Two beekeepers sell honey from hives in and around St Albans. C & B Honey began as a hobby in 2007 and now has around 20 hives. All its honey is extracted and bottled by hand in St Albans, without heating, and sold locally: at Carpenter's Nursery & Farm Shop, where the honey travels about one food mile from hive to shelf, and at a few cafés and delis including The Deli on Verulam, Charlie's Coffee & Company and Loafing in Wheathampstead. St Albans Honey began with a single hive and now has 85. It sells runny and set raw honey online or by phone, with free pick-up.
The St Albans & District Beekeepers Association, one of Hertfordshire's seven local associations, has apiaries around the district and can help with swarms.
