Peebles is the county town of Peeblesshire, and its honey comes from the flowers and heather in the countryside around it. Hayden's Peebles Honey, a micro producer in the town, sells blossom honey and pressed heather honey in jars, plus blossom and heather comb honey, all raw and cold-strained rather than filtered. It has sold through a shop on the Northgate and at the Saturday market outside the Eastgate Theatre, but supplies are small and sell out, so get in touch first.
The Peeblesshire Beekeepers Association, founded in 1919, runs its own apiary for training and demonstrations and hires out honey-extraction equipment to members.
