Llangennech, a village just outside Llanelli, is home to Cilgwenyn Bee Farm, whose honey is sold as Mêl Cilgwenyn. Rather than one local honey, the farm keeps apiaries in different parts of Wales and jars each separately: Gower saltmarsh honey with sea lavender and sea holly, Carmarthenshire meadow honey from wild meadows and hedgerows, Brecon Beacons upland, Cardigan Bay coastal and Pembrokeshire spring honeys, and a Cambrian Mountains honey from wild ling and bell heather.
Mêl Cilgwenyn is stocked widely in south and west Wales, including in Llanelli and at the WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre, and can also be ordered online.
