They are an affiliated association of the British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) and operate a club apiary at Saltwell Park in Gateshead. The association sells a variety of local hive produce including honey, beeswax, candles and other merchandise, with all proceeds going back into the club to fund new beekeeping equipment and maintenance costs. Run entirely by volunteers, TBKA is active at Saltwell Park most weekends during spring and summer, weather permitting.
