Crickhowell's honey comes from Llangattock, just across the River Usk, where Anthony Smith set up Llangattock Apiaries in 2002 after first keeping bees in the Middle East. His bees are all Buckfasts, chosen for their yield and calm temperament, and he says no commercial crops are grown near the home apiary. Alongside it he runs hives in Monmouthshire and Herefordshire – more than 300 in all.
The honey is sold raw and unpasteurised, with nothing added, in a wide range that runs from several honeys and honeycomb to infused honeys, bee pollen and beeswax goods, all available online with UK-wide delivery.
