Newtown is home to Hilltop Honey, which began in 2011 as a beekeeping hobby in the town and has grown into one of the UK's best-known honey brands. Its honey is still tested and packed in Newtown, but most of it comes from beekeepers and co-operatives in the UK and overseas rather than the company's own hives; its Welsh Blossom Honey, from Welsh beekeepers, is the one to look for if you want Welsh honey from Hilltop.
For honey from a single farm, Graig Farm at Mochdre, just south-west of Newtown, sells Bee True Honey from its own bees, which forage within about three miles of the farm, with nothing added.
